On the chilly, breezy Sunday morning of October 17th, 2021, Debby and I went to experience the reenactment of the Battle of Cedar Creek. In commemoration of the 157th anniversary of that last major battle in the Shenandoah Valley, the reenactment was held in the original fields in Middletown where it took place on October 19th, 1864.
The thousands of men and women involved in the reenactment camped out for the weekend in period clothing and tents, cooking meals with Civil War era implements and tools. The attention to detail and faithful recreation of the look and feel of that time period was quite impressive.
Debby also wrote a great blog post, with some wonderful photos - you can check that out HERE.
The following video footage and photos were taken in the Confederate and Union camps prior to and during the battle reenactment.
