My name is Elliott. I live upstairs from you. Or just down the block. Or in the next town over. Or on the other side of the globe.
Regardless of our relative geospatial coordinates, if something I show or tell resonates - or rankles - I'd like to hear about it. Comment, email, post, or bang on the plumbing - if you let me know what's on your mind, there's a good chance you'll get a reply.
I am a passionate collector of the least-collectible artifact: light!
Light is so mysterious and elusive (exhibiting properties of both waves and particles), that it defies the would-be collector at every turn.
Putting light "into a frame" (also known as “photography” , in some quarters) requires time, patience, perseverance, a dash of ingenuity, and (unfortunately) a considerable financial investment.
Fortunately, I'm not picky - I am an equal-opportunity light collector. The source of light can be natural (the sun, moon, stars, fireflies, phosphorescent cave moss), or artificial (strobe, flashlight, candle, glow stick, burning steel wool) - it's all good light to me.
Light-collecting requires equal amounts of technical knowledge and artistic sensibility. These qualities and skills do not come easily. They have taken me a lifetime to accrue - and that process, for me, will literally never end until the day I end.
Let us, then, light each other's paths with our luminescence. Follow me on social media or by newsletter so that we may hopefully learn from each other in equal measures. I look forward to hearing from you.
