Taking a Break

To all my loyal readers: Thank You so much for your support!

I appreciate all the positive comments on my photos and blog posts I’ve gotten on this site and on various social media platforms! Your feedback and compliments have made worthwhile all the time and effort I have put into this website.

As a brief overview, here are the year-to-date traffic stats for my site:

Nearly 2,000 page views may not be a lot for some sites, but I’ve been very pleased with the results so far, and I have you all to thank.

I’ve been especially gratified with the international audience that has found its way to my site. Here are the top 10 countries, as of June 19th:

In addition to these countries, I’ve had visitors from such diverse areas as: Finland, France, New Zealand, Bulgaria, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Philippines, Pakistan, Portugal, and Slovak Republic! Wow – the internet is such an amazing thing!

Despite all this wonderful attention I will, however, be taking a break for the foreseeable future.

To put it in bureau-speak, I have multiple competing priorities which require the reallocation of my personal bandwidth.

Or, to put it in normal-human-speak, I’ve got a bunch of stuff that I really need to take care of, and as much as I love writing the blog posts, they are a major time-sink (and not helping to pay the bills).

So, for the next couple of months at least – or until I can get my other affairs in order – I will probably not be publishing any new blog posts.

I will, however, be posting on all my social media accounts daily. As these will be posts will be scheduled ahead of time, and there may be delays in my responding to comments (and reviewing the work of others), as I will also be cutting back on the time I spend online.

I encourage you to follow my social media accounts if you’d like to keep up with my posts - note that many of the photos will be new (not previously published as part of this blog):

And don’t despair – I will definitely be back!

I’ve still got plenty of material planned for future blog posts. Here is a taste of what’s to come (in no particular order):

  • Last Saturday (June 13th), I went to the “abandoned” Waterside Woolen Mill in Waterside, PA. An amazing site where I took several hundred photos, so I’ll be doing a write-up on that.

  • On Aug 1st I’ll be going to the Phillipsburg Pump House in Phillipsburg, NJ – I’m definitely looking forward to that: https://www.friendsnjthc.org/pumphouse

  • In November, I’m hoping to go to another/different truck graveyard in southern VA – that hasn’t been scheduled yet, but it’s in the works, and if we’re lucky, we may be able to do a night time light-painting shoot there.

  • I’m working with a group of friends to do some Milky Way shoots over the next two months - and if we’re lucky, we’ll catch the Perseid Meteor showers in July/August

I’ve also got posts planned about the following places that I’ve visited in the past (again, in no particular order):

A sunrise shoot in Annapolis, where I went with a group from the Capital Photography Center

I was fortunate enough to go on a weekend B&W workshop with Roadrunner Photography Tours to Cape May, NJ - I was there for 3 days and took so many photos, I may have to make this a two-part post.
